Couple transforms old kitchen with £50 Facebook marketplace bargain | UK | News
A couple transformed their old kitchen with a marketplace bargain, and it’s unrecognisable. The pair took to TikTok to share how they made “the kitchen of their dreams” after spending just £50 on Facebook Marketplace.
They (@thestylepad_uk) said: “With the help of my father-in-law, we go to work stripping out the kitchen – all the doors, drawers, carcasses and the oven from the sellers, which was included in the deal.
“With a lot of strength and determination, we managed to get everything home with just a couple of trips using our trailer and put it all in our new extension
“I’m not gonna lie, it was absolute chaos and this was the point where I really started to regret my life choices.”
They got to work taking the drawers apart, creating taller carcasses and reconfiguring everything to work in their space – including a butler sink that their neighbours were throwing away.
The next job was to paint every single piece of cabinetry, first in a primer and then with two coats of a gorgeous green colour.
They added new compact laminate countertops and splashbacks, a floating shelf made from a recycled piece of oak and DIYed an oven hood. Finally, they added brass hardware to finish off the look.
The video got almost 30,000 likes and over a thousand comments. Viewers were shocked at the quality of the kitchen they got for just £50.
One person said: “That is a £1,000 oven! Well done!” Another added: “It’s absolutely stunning! Just shows what creativity and resourcefulness can do when you’re on a budget.”
A viewer said: “£50? That kitchen looks like it would cost £50,000!” Another said: “Wow sustainable and a bargain – my two favourite things. Looks amazing, love the colour.”
