Dad brutally ‘beaten to death’ in front of his screaming children | US | News

A gang of youths beat a father to death in front of his screaming children after his partner’s son was in a school fight, his grieving fiancée has said.

Christopher Michael Wright, 43, was confronted outside his US home by three or four males searching for heartbroken Tracy Karopchinsky’s 14-year-old son.

Wright told the group the boy was going to stay inside and not come out to fight, she told WBAL-TV, reports The Daily Express US.

But they allegedly replied: “If he’s not going to fight, then you’re going to fight.”

The mother said he was then brutally attacked by the group outside their Maryland home. Her three children were all home at the time of the horrific incident.

He was taken to an area hospital and died from a traumatic brain injury on Saturday.

The entire altercation was also captured on security camera footage.

She said: “Just looking at the damage that was done to him, that wasn’t just punching that did that. Like, there’s no way that punching did that.

“The damage was done before the ambulance ever took him away. I mean, he’d had a seizure. It was done. There was nothing that the hospital could do.”

She added: “My dad and I tried to go onto the camera to look, and the first video that comes up is my 12-year-old son screaming ‘Daddy, daddy, daddy’ and running out of the house into the street to go help his dad. And, I couldn’t watch anymore after that. I just couldn’t.”

The school fight allegedly happened at Brooklyn Park Middle School, in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore.

School officials confirmed the fight and are cooperating with Anne Arundel County police during their investigation.

Investigators said the three or four men who attacked Wright were in their mid-20s to mid-30s.

No charges have been brought so far.

Ms Karopchinsky urged parents to take responsibility over violent teens.

She said:”They didn’t just ruin our lives. Their lives are going to be changed forever. Their parents’ lives are going to be changed forever, and nobody thinks about that just from a fight.

“It is everywhere, and somewhere, we as parents are failing these children as parents. It’s not the school’s responsibility. It’s our responsibility.”

She said she had been with Wright for the last 15 years and engaged for the last eight, adding that “the world lost a light” following the death of her partner.

“He was a friend to everybody. I mean, just the outpour we’ve been getting from friends and just, they’re really, really gonna miss out on somebody with a really big heart. He loved beyond,” she told WJZ News.

Wright’s youngest son Tevin said: “She would usually be at work and like he would be the one person to take care of us every weekday. I would get home and I would see him, which would make me smile.”
