Deadpool creator slams Marvel’s Kevin Feige after worst MCU box office in years | Films | Entertainment
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has been a fierce critic of Marvel Studios in recent years.
Allegedly snubbed at the Deadpool and Wolverine premiere and not invited to the afterparty, Liefeld hasn’t held back on his criticisms of the struggling MCU franchise.
In fact, he’s previously called for studio boss Kevin Feige to be fired and now the superhero franchise is facing its worst box office since its beginnings in the early 2010s.
According to Thor and X-Men screenwriter Zack Stentz, assuming Wicked 2, Zootopia 2 and Avatar 3 storm the box office in the next couple of months, 2025 will be the first year since 2011 without a single superhero movie in the global box office Top 10.
Liefeld tweeted today: “MCU was the single biggest fail of 2025. Feige is so washed. Doomsical Chairs can’t get here fast enough!”
The latter refers to next year’s Avengers Doomsday, the next MCU crossover event featuring Robert Downey Jr as the villainous Doctor Doom.
The Deadpool creator also took a pop at the CGI motion capture used for Galactus in The Fantastic Four: First Steps: “Looks so fake. The Marvel FX fell off a cliff.”
There have been three MCU movies to hit cinemas this year in Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four, which have a combined box office taking of $1.3 billion. A far cry from the pre-pandemic MCU glory days and basically what Deadpool and Wolverine made last year as a single film, let alone three combined.
