Donald Trump was publicly criticised live on Fox News after one of the channel’s own presenters distanced himself from the president following his latest controversial display.

The moment unfolded on Fox & Friends as Brian Kilmeade reacted to Trump unveiling a series of plaques that appeared to mock former presidents, including Joe Biden and Barack Obama. While Fox News is typically seen as a stronghold of support for the Republican leader, Kilmeade made it clear he was unimpressed, telling viewers he was “not for” the move.

The president had revealed the plaques that he wrote himself, with one for Joe Biden reading: “Sleepy Joe Biden was, by far, the worst president in American history.”

The “Presidential Walk of Fame” at the White House features a picture or painting of every former US president, except for Biden, who has been replaced by a photo of an autopen.

Another plaque referred to “Barack Hussein Obama” as “one of the most divisive political figures in American history.” The plaque underneath Bill Clinton’s photo read: “In 2016, President Clinton’s wife, Hillary Clinton, lost the presidency to President Donald J Trump!”

Kilmeade’s comments marked a rare on-air rebuke from within Trump-friendly media. Speaking candidly, the presenter suggested the move was unnecessary and added that “some presidents” seen as “bad” during their tenure later went on to be known as great. A move that stood out sharply from Fox News’ usual coverage of the president.

Some accused Trump of prioritising personal digs over policy, as the displays quickly sparked backlash online. One wrote: “How can you be a president for the whole country while you are busy trolling half of it?”

While another replied: “Instead of lowering grocery prices, we got meme plaques at the White House…”

However, others were in support of the move, as a third remarked: “Acting like he (Kilmeade) doesn’t know that this is who Donald is.”

A fourth added: “Sorry, Mr Kilmeade, you’ve been sliding down the slippery slope foir quite a while now.”

The “Presidential Walk of Fame” is a recent addition to Mr Trump’s White House and displays the portraits along corridors between the Oval Office and the South Lawn.
