Donald Trump extends Iran deadline over Strait of Hormuz in latest mysterious threat | World | News
Donald Trump has reportedly extended the deadline for Iran over Strait of Hormuz in his another threatening cryptic post. Sharing a message on Truth Social, he wrote: “Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!” While he did not share any more details on his message, it has been confirmed that the top leader has clarified his deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Akayla Gardener, a White House Correspondent for MS NOW wrote on X: “A White House official confirms that Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST is POTUS ’s new deadline for Iran to reach a deal with the US.” He had previously issued a deadline of Monday, April 6, for Iran to make a deal.
Earlier on Sunday, the US President threatened to target critical Iranian infrastructure if the key shipping route is not reopened by the end of his deadlines. He said Tuesday would be “power plant day and bridge day all wrapped in one”. He wrote: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F*****’ Strait, you crazy b*****ds, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!”
Iran’s decision to block the Strait of Hormuz — a narrow waterway that normally carries a huge share of the world’s oil and gas — has sent shockwaves through global energy markets.
With such a critical supply route suddenly cut off, countries are struggling to secure enough fuel, pushing prices sharply higher and creating widespread uncertainty.
Speaking to Australian outlet ABC News, the US president said on Sunday evening that he expects the Iranian government to make a deal in “days, not weeks”.
He said: “If it happens, it happens. And if it doesn’t, we’re blowing up the whole country. We’re blowing up, as I said, it’s going to be bridge day and it’s going to be power plant day in the country of Iran.”
Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Trump’s “reckless moves are dragging the United States into a living HELL for every single family”. He said: “Make no mistake: You won’t gain anything through war crimes.”
Meanwhile, the US Central Command confirmed the rescue of two Americans following the downing of a fighter jet on Thursday.
In a statement, it said: “On April 4, U.S. forces successfully completed the rescues of two American service members from Iran after their F-15E fighter jet was shot down April 2 during a combat mission.
“The service members were safely recovered during separate search and rescue missions. US strikes into Iran continue as U.S. Central Command forces dismantle the Iranian regime’s ability to project power beyond its borders.”
