Dramatic moment ‘mushroom cloud’ erupts over Russian occupied Ukraine ‘after Kyiv strike’ | World | News

A dramatic video reportedly filmed inside a school shows a large mushroom-shaped cloud rising from the ground in Russian occupied Ukraine.

Children can be heard screaming in fear while the camera shakes in an attempt to film the result of a recent blast, believed to be linked to a Ukrainian air strike.

A giant explosion rocked the Ukrainian city of Sorokyne on September 25, also known as Krasnodon, in the Russian-occupied Luhansk region.

The target reportedly hit is believed to have been an ammunition depot used to supply Vladimir Putin‘s forces in the contended area.

Following the blast, the local administration suspended the lessons in some of the schools located near the target and placed children in bomb shelters, the MLNR Live Telegram channel reported.

Many parents then rushed to these institutes affected by the suspended lectures to pick up their loved ones.

The Telegram channel also said there is currently no information regarding casualties, adding emergency services are at the scene of the incident.

This huge blow to Russian forces could suggest Ukraine is beginning to focus its counter-offensive attention on this region as well, which has been under the control of Moscow long before the beginning of Russia‘s invasion in February last year.

Sorokyne, which in 2021 counted some 42,300 residents, has been under the control of the internationally unrecognised Russian Luhansk People’s Republic since 2014.

This comes after Russia experienced another night of drone attacks.

Two drones were downed in the Kursk region, while two more were hit by Russian air defence systems in Bryansk, Moscow said.

A further four were shot down over Crimea, annexed by Russia shortly before the pro-Russian forces took over the Luhansk and Donetsk regions nine years ago.
