East Ham fire: Three children killed in tragic blaze pictured | UK | News


Three children who were killed after a horror fire ripped through their home in east London have been named by police.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the tragic blaze in  Napier Road, East Ham, shortly after 8am on Saturday morning.

One child was found dead inside the property, while five more people were rushed to hospital where two other children were later also pronounced dead.

The young victims have now been identified as Nakash Malik, 13, Aayat Malik, 11, and seven-year-old Muhammad Hanan Malik.

In a gut-wrenching tribute, their parents, Khurram Malik and Naumana Gul Khan, said of their children: “Your lives were a blessing, your memory a treasure.

“You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. May you rest in peace in God’s heaven.”

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Officers continue to investigate the cause of the fire alongside London Fire Brigade colleagues.

“At this stage, there is no evidence to indicate suspicious circumstances. Enquiries are ongoing.”

DCI Jonathan Burks, one of the senior officers responsible for policing Newham, said: “I appreciate that local people will be shocked and saddened by this tragic event.

“We share those sentiments and will do all we can, alongside LFB, the local authority and other partners, to provide the family and local community with support and answers to their questions about this heart-breaking incident.”

Officers continue to investigate the cause of the fire alongside the London Fire Brigade, and the Met says there is no evidence to indicate suspicious circumstances.
