EasyJet new £34 routes to sunny Spanish coast with huge theme park | Europe | Travel
Budget airline easyJet is set to launch two new routes in summer, which will take holidaymakers to one of Spain’s most family-friendly destinations.
From June 25, 2026, travellers will be able to enjoy a direct Bristol to Reus route, with flights to and from the regional airport on Thursdays and Sundays. Then, on August 1, flights from Newcastle Upon Tyne to the Spanish airport will begin, with Wednesday and Saturday services. Fares will start from £34.99 each way. The new routes will join existing easyJet services to Reus from Belfast, Glasgow, London-Luton, and Manchester, all of which are seasonal and operate during the spring and summer months.
Reus Airport is set on the sunny Costa Daurada, about a 90 minute drive south of Barcelona. It’s close to a number of beach towns, one of which is Salou, a popular family destination.
Salou has a long beach with golden sands and a buzzing promenade area full of shops, bars, and restaurants. Water sports such as paddleboarding and wind surfing are popular on Playa de Ponent beach. Or you can simply hire a sunbed or find a shady spot under a palm tree.
One of the main attractions is PortAventura World, the largest theme park in Spain and third-largest in Europe. PortAventura has a number of themed lands based on different countries, from Mexico to China, as well as SésamoAventura, which is themed around Sesame Street. Each land has its own unique style, with street entertainment, food, and music reflecting the country, and there are many thrill rides, from rollercoasters to splash rides, to choose from.
PortAventura also has Caribe Aquatic Park, a water park with over 16 pools and attractions, including thrilling waterslides and a wave pool. You can also visit Ferrari Land, a car-themed park which has a number of rides based on the iconic vehicle. Red Force holds the title of Europe’s tallest roller coaster at 112m high, and there’s a variety of thrill rides, racing tracks, and kid-friendly attractions.
Close to Reus is the port city of Tarragona, famous for its Roman ruins. Visit the Amfiteatre Romà, which dates back to the 2nd century and once held crowds of up to 15,000 people baying for blood as they watched gladiatorial fights. You can also see the Roman Theatre of Tarraco, which was used for theatrical performances around the 1st century and has large parts of its walls still standing.
Tarragona’s Parte Alta, the old town, has well-preserved historic buildings from across the centuries, including some of the old city walls. It’s also a great place for shopping, with lots of narrow pedestrian streets full of independent shops, as well as The Rambla Nova, a modern street with larger chain stores.
In the evening, head to El Serrallo, the fishing quarter, to find a table. Its proximity to the fishing boats mean you can enjoy the freshest seafood, and some restaurants have views across the marina as the sun goes down.
