Elder Scrolls 6 tipped for shock reappearance after 7 year wait | Gaming | Entertainment

After seven years without any updates, it looks like Elder Scrolls 6 may finally be ready to make a reappearance.

Elder Scrolls 6 was officially announced alongside Starfield during Bethesda’s E3 conference all the way back in 2018.

Bethesda unveiled the Skyrim successor with a brief teaser trailer showcasing the stunning game world.

While Bethesda made no secret that the game was a long way from complete, fans probably didn’t anticipate having to wait seven years for more information.

Fortunately, if the latest reports are to be believed, it looks like Elder Scrolls fans won’t have to wait too much longer for news about the upcoming role-playing game.

According to industry insider Jez Corden on the Xbox Two podcast, Bethesda is demonstrating Elder Scrolls 6 internally at Microsoft.

While Corden doesn’t believe Elder Scrolls 6 will necessarily be shown at Gamescom, the fact that trailers and gameplay are doing the rounds at Microsoft suggest that the game may be re-revealed soon.

If Microsoft doesn’t unveil Elder Scrolls 6 footage during Gamescom in August, then there’s a chance it could make its debut during The Game Awards in December.

Either way, it looks like Elder Scrolls 6 is finally getting closer to a full reveal with actual gameplay and story details, instead of just cinematics.

Elder Scrolls 6 is believed to have entered full production after Starfield made its debut back in 2023.

With Microsoft owning Bethesda, expect Elder Scrolls 6 to launch as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. The role-playing game is also likely to be available on PS5 and PC when it eventually makes its debut.

In the meantime, Elder Scrolls fans will have to make do with Oblivion Remastered, which launched earlier this year.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered features new and improved visuals, as well as countless quality of life improvements.

Bethesda explains more: “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modernises the 2006 Game of the Year with all new stunning visuals and refined gameplay.

“Explore the vast landscape of Cyrodiil like never before and stop the forces of Oblivion from overtaking the land in one of the greatest RPGs ever from the award-winning Bethesda Game Studios.”

The new and improved visuals are available courtesy of Unreal Engine 5, which introduces detailed character models and improved lip synching, as well as real-time lighting and other enhancements.

Interestingly, developer Virtuous has also introduced various gameplay tweaks to modernise the experience, including the addition of a sprint mechanic and new combat animations.

Furthermore, the game comes with the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions, as well as additional cosmetics for owners of the Deluxe Edition.
