Raducanu and Xu know each other well, but this is the first time they will meet on an official match court.

Ahead of their showdown, British No. 1 Raducanu said: “I think it’s a very dangerous match, very difficult. I think Mimi is a really, really good player.

“I practised with her a few times. A lot of weapons. Also moves really well. It’s going to be a really different match. For her, it’s one where there’s nothing to lose.”

Meanwhile, 17-year-old wildcard Xu is up for the challenge of facing former US Open champion Raducanu.

“I feel like I’m really ready for it. I’m really excited for it. Recently I’ve been playing really well. I was probably the first one on the grass this year,” she explained.

“So I think my game really suits grass. I think I’m quite an aggressive tennis player. I’m really confident in my game at the moment.”
