European city is 21C in April and has pints for under £2.50 | Travel News | Travel

One European destination has been hailed as one of the most affordable places to go for a pint of beer. Online holiday provider Travel Republic have named Dalaman in Türkiye (formerly Turkey), as the second most affordable spot for a pint across Europe. The city of Dalaman offers domestic beers for as little as £2.08; imported beers can be a bit pricier at £3.28.

However, it’s not just the price of beer that would draw people into the southwestern coast of Türkiye. Dalaman experiences sunshine weather throughout spring and summer, with the temperature dial ranging from 21C in April to 35C in August.

Tourism company TUI highlighted that Dalaman is the perfect spot for sandy beaches along turquoise waters.

Shorelines are buzzing with restaurants, bars and shops with a backdrop of a mountainous region where travellers can explore historical sites.

One such site is Marmaris Castle, which was built back in 1522 by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.

Inside, avid history buffs can explore the museum while those wanting a scenic view can make their way to the top of the castle.

But it will take a while to get there, as Marmaris Castle is far west of the country, taking over an hour to get there.

Back to Dalaman, there is a colourful bazaar in the city centre where market-goers can haggle with stallholders – just like the locals.

Nearby, about half an hour in a taxi, is Göcek’s Sunday market, best known for its leatherwear, ceramics and clothing.

The family-run stores sells all kinds of merchandise from Turkish rugs, tablecloths, and ceramic vases – delighting any keen shopper.

Then, for nature lovers, there’s the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre on Iztuzu Beach, in Dalyan. Only about a half-hour taxi ride away from Dalaman, people at the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre help baby turtles cross the sand into the sea.

While Dalaman offers lovely beaches, a buzzy atmosphere and nearby attractions, there’s one European destination that is cheaper for beer.

According to Travel Republic, the number one European destination for a cheap pint is Alicante in Spain.

In Alicante, imported beer prices start from £2.90, but local Spanish beer goes for £2.07, which is a penny more than Turkish beer.
