Europe’s cheapest holiday destinations to fly to in May | Travel News | Travel

Tirana, Albania

I found return flights to Tirana for just £25 from London, £30 from Bristol and under £50 from Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Albania is this year’s hottest destination, recommended by Simon Calder, and an absolute bargain holiday spot. I stayed in Tirana for just £20 per night last summer.

The city has some fascinating museums, cheap drinks and a relaxed atmosphere but it’s also easy to reach Albanian beaches from Tirana. Durres is just a short drive from the capital.

Temperatures can reach 24 degrees in Tirana in May while the city’s huge park is the perfect spot for a picnic.

Dusseldorf, Germany

I found return flights to Dusseldorf for just £27 from Edinburgh while there were also offers for under £100 from Manchester and Birmingham.

The city is known as Germany’s fashion capital and it’s also one of the country’s greenest cities with a botanic garden and a Japanese garden.

Marvel at the views from the Rhine Tower or shop for souvenirs at Carlsplatz Market before grabbing a beer.

Bratislava, Slovakia

I found return flights for just £28 from London, £34 from Leeds, £50 from Manchester and £61 from Edinburgh.

The Slovakian capital has a pretty old town and budget-friendly prices. Head up the UFO tower for incredible views.

Bratislava is also around an hour from Vienna on the train making it an affordable place to stay if you want to visit some of the Austrian capital’s attractions.
