Fears for abused children this Christmas as Childline prepares for greater demand | UK | News
With schools and other support systems closing over the festive period, the NSPCC warns many will be left vulnerable.
Childline’s Shaun Friel said: “Christmas should be a time of happiness and fun for all children. We know that for many it is a time full of fear, isolation and increased risks.” From December 24, 2022, to January 4, 400 counselling sessions were given.
The NSPCC, which now runs Childline, released the figures as it launched its Christmas appeal. Mr Friel added: “For lots of children, it’s the only place they can turn to for help when trapped behind closed doors feeling scared and alone.”
