First look inside the ultimate Mercedes that you’ll never want to driv

There aren’t many cars where the best seats are in the back, but it’s unlikely you’ll ever want to drive the latest Mercedes Maybach S-Class. This luxury motor has been designed to offer the ultimate comfort, with chauffeured passengers even getting a personal fridge to keep the posh bubbles cold and silver‑plated Robbe & Berking champagne flutes for added opulence. Personal 13-inch TVs are mounted in the headrests to make long journeys pass with ease and feature integrated cameras in case a video call to the office is needed.

The plush, first-class airline-style seats with matching pillows can be reclined for a more relaxing ride and the Active Ambient Lighting will calm the mood thanks to 64 individually selectable colours – including the Maybach exclusive Rose Gold White and Amethyst Glow.

A glass roof bathes the interior with light, and even the automatic comfort doors will fully open at the touch of a button.

For the very first time, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class also offers a leather‑free interior. Mercedes says that the optional “stormy grey” scheme pairs finely embossed ARTICO man‑made leather with the high‑grade “Mirville” mélange textile, a linen‑and‑recycled‑polyester blend with a natural‑fibre character. Deep white piping and open‑quilted diamond stitching that continues into the door panels complete the new interior option.

For the ultimate feel inside, owners can use the dedicated MANUFAKTUR service to personalise everything from interior colours, materials and decorative stitching – even the steering wheel can be customised for a truly unique look.

When the new Maybach S-Class pulls up at a glitzy event, it’s sure to make an entrance thanks to its dominating chrome pinstripe front grille – now 20 percent larger – and Mercedes-Benz star atop the bonnet, which are both gracefully illuminated.

A new Night Series design package also introduces a darker, more contemporary interpretation of Maybach elegance. A two tone finish can also be added to really make this car stand out from the crowd. Even the new multi‑spoke polished forged wheels feature a floating Mercedes star which always stays upright thanks to a precisely engineered ball‑bearing mechanism.

Those who do end up in the driving seat will be treated to the Mercedes Superscreen with three displays across the dash.

There’s also plenty of tech, including new AIRMATIC air suspension that introduces intelligent, predictive damping that further elevates comfort, especially for rear passengers.

Using Car‑to‑X information from Mercedes‑Benz vehicles ahead, transmitted in real time to the Mercedes‑Benz Intelligent Cloud, the system anticipates the road and adjusts itself electronically to create a journey shaped by qsplitraceful refinement. It basically means less chance of champagne being spilt when hitting a UK pothole.

The Maybach will be available with numerous engine options, including new electrified eight‑ and six‑cylinder variants and the celebrated V12.

There’s no word on price just yet, but you’ll probably need a footballer’s salary to own one. Things could start from over £175,000.

“For 105 years, the Maybach name has stood as the benchmark for automotive excellence,” said Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

“With the launch of the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, this legacy continues with new levels of exclusivity and comfort. With the AI-powered MB.OS, we are further elevating the digital customer experience.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is the next highlight of the biggest product launch programme in our history. Mercedes-Maybach is an important strategic pillar in expanding our top-end segment.”
