First Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order goes live as thousands register interest | Gaming | Entertainment

The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch in either May or June, although we won’t know for sure until the next Nintendo Direct on April 2.

Likewise, pricing and pre-order information is also expected to be revealed during the upcoming Nintendo Direct.

Despite the lack of release date and price, however, one UK retailer has opened pre-orders for eager customers.

ShopTo customers can register interest in the device by clicking the link below and putting down a one pence deposit.

Thousands of fans have expressed an interest in the device so far, which is being limited to one per customer.

With allocation yet to be confirmed, registering interest doesn’t necessarily guarantee you’ll get a Switch 2 at launch, although you’ll have a much better chance if you register sooner rather than later.

ShopTo will email customers with confirmation once Nintendo makes the official announcement in April.

ShopTo explains more: “You can choose the ‘Pay on Dispatch’ option when registering your interest. Alternatively, if you choose to pay 1p upfront, that amount will be added to your balance.

“When the item becomes a live pre-order, we will then require the appropriate full payment.”

Needless to say, payments will be refunded if orders can’t be fulfilled.

If you’re not sure whether the console if for you, check out the announcement trailer below.

As you can see from the video above, the Nintendo Switch 2 is larger than the current model, featuring a bigger screen and JoyCons.

The JoyCons will reportedly utilise technology to eliminate stick drift, as well as magnets for connecting to the display.

Judging by the trailer, the JoyCons can also be used like a mouse, meaning PC-style games should work better on the Switch 2.

The kickstand is also more flexible, giving users more viewing angles when playing in handheld mode.

It looks like Mario Kart 9 is also in development, and based on the trailer, should support 24-person races in single and multiplayer.
