Whether you’re hoping to snap up a last-minute sunshine holiday or are looking ahead to the toasty days of summer, there’s one island destination which a travel agent says is a “top trending” location for British tourists. And right now,

According to travel agents from Brightsun Travel, the Canary Islands is among six destinations they say are the “top trending” holiday hotspots for Britons in 2024.

This beautiful Spanish archipelago located off the northwest coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean is made up of seven main islands: Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro.

Their unique landscape and mid-haul flight time are two major reasons Britons are drawn to these islands. However, there is one other key factor that makes the Canary Islands such a lusted-after hotspot throughout the year.

“Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria are looking to be popular travel hotspots this year, where you can discover diverse landscapes like volcanic beaches, golden sand dunes, and national parks, many of which have been designated as UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.”

Right now, Jet2holidays is offering customers up to £240 off all Canary Islands holidays.

Which is the hottest of the Canary Islands?

Although each of the Canary Islands enjoys a similar subtropical climate with mild temperatures even in the winter months. During the winter, all of the islands usually enjoy average temperatures of between 18 and 22C, rising to around 30C in the height of the summer.

However, Lanzarote is typically the hottest and most arid, as it is the closest to the Sahara desert and a low-lying island.

Ultimately, where you decide to stay on each of the islands is the best indication of the type of weather you will experience.

In all instances, the southern and eastern coasts are likely to be the driest and sunniest.
