Horror as helicopter crashes on beautiful beach in Hawaii killing 3 | World | News

A horror helicopter crash on Thursday afternoon killed three people and injured two, authorities said. Four passengers and one pilot were on board when it crashed at Kalalau Beach on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, its fire department said. Three of them died, and the other two were rushed to Wilcov Medical Centre for treatment following the crash at around 3.45pm.

The extent of their injuries is not known. The helicopter was operated by Airborne Aviation, officials said. Kalalau Beach is located on the Na Pali Coast, on the island’s north shore, where helicopter tours are popular. Tourists use them to explore the cliffs, beaches and waterfalls lining the Na Pali Coast, which is otherwise only accessible by hiking or boat.

Personnel from the Kauai Fire Department, Kauai Police Department, Kauai Emergency Management Agency, US Coast Guard, American Medical Response, and the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources all rushed to the scene.

However, the rugged terrain and limited access made the initial rescue efforts tricky, and emergency responders had to arrive by air and sea to reach the crash.

The rugged terrain and limited access complicated initial rescue efforts, with personnel arriving by air and sea to reach the crash location.

Officials have not revealed the cause of the crash, but the National Transport Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were notified and are expected to launch a joint investigation.

This comes after a Robinson R44 helicopter operated by Ali’i Kaua’i Air Tours & Charters crashed into the ocean near Hanakoa Valley along the same coastline in July 2024, killing three people.

One victim was quickly pronounced dead, while the other two were initially thought to be missing before the search was called off days later.
