Horror as man sneaked into women’s homes to steal toys for ‘sex room’ | UK | News
A sexual predator has been sentenced after breaking into women’s homes to go through their underwear and watch them sleep. Ference Bogdan, 33, from Huddersfield, preyed upon two women – the first discovering her personal belongings had vanished after he entered her home in November 2023.
Prosecutor Jayne Beckett told Leeds Crown Court on Friday that the victim returned from the shops to discover her bedside table had been rummaged through and her cosmetics bag was missing.
She said: “Her studio door was closed but not locked, but she didn’t process it at the time. Her items from her bedside table were not in the drawer. It had been rummaged through, and there was underwear, condoms, lube, and books on the floor. She was concerned by that but didn’t take action.
“The next day she looked for a black cosmetics bag in which she kept her sex toys and couldn’t find it. She called the police and reported it and changed her locks.”
At around 5.30am on November 24, 2023, she was woken up by a “rustling noise” before sensing she was being watched.
Ms Beckett said: “He was watching her. She was in complete shock and shouted, it was something like ‘Get the f*** out, go, go go.’ She thought the defendant spoke to her.
“He then retreated through the side window, which must have allowed him to enter. She processed her situation, and in her words ‘freaked out’ and called the police.”
The court was told the woman recognised items confiscated from Bogdan’s home as belonging to her. In his pre-sentence report, Bogdan called the room where the items were found his “sex room”.
Bogdan’s second target realised that her Samsung tablet and adult toys kept in a drawstring bag had vanished, but had no idea where they could be.
The court was told that on September 28, 2024, the woman was sleeping she was “disturbed” at around 2am to find Bodgan stroking her feet.
The prosecutor said: “She felt a stroke down the middle of her foot. She opened her eyes and saw the defendant crouching on his tiptoes.
“The defendant left the bedroom but returned around one or two minutes later. He entered slowly and in a slouched position.
“He walked to the bottom of her bed where she remained laid on her front. The defendant put his finger on her bottom and moved it to her waist between the skin and her underwear.”
Bogdan then repeated the action on the other side of the woman’s waist, before pulling down her underwear. The woman “flipped over” and yelled at him: “What are you doing, who are you?”.
It was reported that the woman’s wardrobe had been tampered with, and a bikini top and underwear were found next to her bed.
His Honour Judge Robin Mairs handed down an extended sentence of 16 years and 10 months, with 12 years and 10 months behind bars and an extended licence period of four years.
Bogdan must serve two-thirds of the custodial term in prison before the Parole Board determines if he is safe to be released. The judge also imposed a restraining order preventing him from contacting both victims.
