A budget-savvy YouTuber was left utterly gobsmacked after his stay in what could be Britain’s cheapest hotel turned out to be a delightful bargain. Scott, the man behind the Wandering Wiganer channel, snagged a double room for a mere £6 per person – that’s just £12 for the entire night at Blackpool’s Highbury Hotel.

In his video review titled ‘£6pp The UK’s Cheapest Hotel Blackpool’, he promises viewers a “cheap and cheerful” stay.

The thrifty traveller was pleasantly surprised to find £6 worth of tea and coffee on offer, effectively making his stay cost-neutral, along with an ample supply of quality toilet paper and several hangers “ripe for the taking”.

Scott details the various booking methods for this ultra-affordable accommodation, highlighting the Agoda app as the clear winner for the lowest price.

“It is so cheap,” he exclaimed, as reported by Lancs Live. “You’re going to be shocked, I was. I’m not expecting a lot for £12 but as long as the bed’s clean I’m happy.”

True to his word, the bed met his standards, and although the cleaning could have been slightly more thorough, it was more than sufficient for the price.

After all, as Scott pointed out, anything cheaper would likely be a park bench, reports the Mirror.

Scratching his head over two enigmatic “knobs” behind the headboard, Scott concludes: “You know what, this is all right this. For the money anyway… it’s certainly not The Ritz.”

Scott noted a few drawbacks, including a poorly fitted window blind. The ceiling paper is peeling off and the TV remote seems to have been in an accident.

A wire, possibly a TV aerial, is seen hanging out of the wall, with TV reception provided by a simple indoor aerial that dangles precariously from a wall bracket.

However, the positives outweighed the negatives. There were “no surprises” in the drawers and a “bonus” electric heater.

“Realistically, if you’re just after a cheap room, this is certainly a contender,” Scott adds. “It’s my second visit here. It’s a bit rough around the edges but it’s not too bad. They won’t be winning any awards for this place but at £12 a night, £6 each, it’s a steal.”

With such low prices, he concludes, it’s puzzling why more people aren’t choosing Blackpool as their holiday destination.
