As 2025 comes to a close, I have been reflecting on the highlights of my film-watching diaries, and there have been many. From the recent release of Marty Supreme to Celine Song’s modern rom-com Materialists and stumbling upon my love for the classic Before Sunrise trilogy, it has been a year of discovery. However, 2026 looks set to be a stacked year for cinema. Here, I have listed the 5 films I am most excited about (it was very hard to whittle it down), coming out at the beginning of the year.
People We Meet on Vacation
People We Meet on Vacation is an upcoming romantic comedy film directed by Brett Haley from a screenplay by Yulin Kuang, based on the 2021 novel of the same name by Henry. It stars Emily Bader, Tom Blyth, Lukas Gage, Jameela Jamil, Alan Ruck, and Molly Shannon. The movie’s plot reads: “Free-spirited Poppy and routine-loving Alex have been unlikely best friends for a decade, living in different cities but spending every summer vacation together. The careful balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else — could they actually be the perfect romantic match?”
People We Meet on Vacation will drop on Netflix on January 9.

100 Nights of Hero
100 Nights of Hero is a 2025 historical fantasy film written and directed by Julia Jackman, and based on the graphic novel of the same name by Isabel Greenberg, which itself was based on the Middle Eastern folktale One Thousand and One Nights. It stars Emma Corrin, Nicholas Galitzine, Maika Monroe, Amir El-Masry, Charli XCX, Richard E. Grant and Felicity Jones. The film’s synopsis reads: “When a charming house guest arrives at a remote castle, the delicate dynamic between a neglectful husband, his innocent bride, and their devoted maid gets thrown into chaos.”
100 Nights of Hero will arrive in cinemas on February 6.

The Moment
The Moment is an upcoming mockumentary film directed by Aidan Zamiri and written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes. It stars Charli XCX, Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Hailey Benton Gates, Isaac Powell, and Alexander Skarsgårda, along with Kylie Jenner. The film is inspired by Charli xcx’s brat summer, its synopsis states: “A rising pop star navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut.”
The Moment will arrive in UK cinemas on January 30.

Margot Robbie stars in Wuthering Heights (Image: Warner Bros. Pictures)
Wuthering Heights
Emerald Fennell is directing the new adaptation of Emily Brontë’s work, starring Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. The film’s synopsis reads: “Tragedy strikes when Heathcliff falls in love with Catherine Earnshaw, a woman from a wealthy family in 18th-century England.” There has been much discussion around this retelling of Brontë’s classic novel, and I, for one, am extremely curious to see how the film turns out.
Wuthering Heights is released on February 14.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is an upcoming British epic crime drama film directed by Tom Harper and written by Steven Knight. It is a continuation of the British television series Peaky Blinders (2013–2022), and stars Cillian Murphy in the lead alongside an ensemble cast including Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, and Stephen Graham, who are reprising their roles, alongside new additions Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo, and Barry Keoghan. The film’s synopsis reads: “During World War II, Tommy Shelby returns to a bombed Birmingham and becomes involved in secret wartime missions based on true events, facing new threats as he reckons with his past and rising national stakes.”
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will be released in select cinemas on March 6 and on Netflix on March 20.
