Incredible number of royal engagements King Charles has completed | Royal | News
King Charles may still be undergoing treatment following his cancer diagnosis last year, however this has definitely not slowed him down. So far this year, the monarch, 76, seems to be on his way to being dubbed the hardest-working royal of 2025 – a title usually held by his sister Princess Anne, 74.
This is because as reported by Write Royalty, the King between the start of the year and the end of May has done one quarter of all royal engagements. He is believed to have completed nearly 260 engagements out of a grand total of 1,100 from January to May 31, 2025.
This suggests that the monarch is not letting his cancer diagnosis, which he received last year, and his treatment hold him back from his royal duty.
While he may have more pressure on his shoulders than other royals, it is believed the King also thoroughly enjoys his work and often is at his desk late into the night.
On a royal visit to Rome earlier this year, Queen Camilla confirmed just how much her husband loves his role as monarch, and the work that comes with it.
Speaking to UK newspapers in Rome, the Queen said: “He loves his work and it keeps him going. And I think it’s wonderful, you know, if you’ve been ill and you are recovering, you’re getting better and now he wants to do more and more and more. That’s the problem. That’s what he’s driven by. Helping others.”
A senior Palace official also once confirmed just how determined the monarch is to continue working even during his cancer treatment and health “blips”.
A Palace source said earlier this year: “As people will have seen The King enjoys his work, he enjoys engaging with as many people as possible; he has a voracious appetite for reading – and because he reads a lot he learns a lot.”
While there is still plenty of time to go before the end of the year, the monarch could be in with a chance of taking the title of the hardest-working royal off his sister Anne, The Princess Royal.
She has held this unofficial title for the past four years, having frequently carried out more royal engagements than any other member of the Royal Family.
