Iran sends chilling ‘Gates of Hell’ warning after Trump’s furious threat | World | News
Iran has told Donald Trump that the “gates of hell will be opened” for the US and Israel if the conflict escalates further. The warning was made by the chief of Iran’s central military command in response to a furious ultimatum from the American president, in which he told Tehran “all Hell will reign (sic) down” on the country if it fails to make a deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.
General Ali Abdollahi dismissed the threat, calling it a “desperate, agitated, unbalanced, and foolish move”. The senior officer labelled Mr Trump an “aggressive and war-mongering” president. He went on to warn that if the US attacks Iranian infrastructure, then Tehran will target infrastructure used by the US Army and Israel “without limitation”.
Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, echoed similar threats to Gen Abdollahi, saying: “If hostility escalates, the entire region will turn into hell for you; the illusion of defeating the Islamic Republic of Iran will become a quagmire into which you will sink.”
The comments came after Mr Trump posted on Truth Social: “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out. 48 hours before all Hell will reign (sic) down on them. Glory be to GOD!”
Mr Trump previously gave Iran 48 hours to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face destruction of its energy infrastructure.
He extended Iran’s deadline to reopen the strait by 10 days last week after saying talks were “going very well”.
However, Iran’s chokehold of the narrow waterway has continued, causing global oil and gas prices to skyrocket.
The latest threats come as the search continues for a missing US airman whose F-15E fighter jet was shot down over southern Iran.
Iranian authorities have offered a reward of reportedly £45,000 for the crew member to be handed over to police.
Israel has vowed to “continue to crush” Iran and confirmed it struck a petrochemical complex on Saturday, with Iranian state media reporting at least five people were killed.
