Iran shares horror footage showing ‘massive attack on US bases’ | World | News
Iran had shared horror footage showing a “massive attack on US bases”. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has claimed it carried out a missile strike on a United States airbase in Iraq, as Iranian state media circulated dramatic footage said to show the attack.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted the headquarters of the US Army at Harir Air Base in the Kurdistan region of Iraq on Tuesday. In a statement released by its public relations office and shared on its Telegram channel, the IRGC said five missiles were launched at the military installation near the city of Erbil. Footage of the alleged strike was circulated by Tasnim News Agency, an Iranian state-linked news outlet, and quickly spread across social media. The IRGC said the strike targeted what it described as the “headquarters of the aggressive US army” inside the base. “The headquarters of the invading US army in Al-Harir Air Base in the Kurdistan region was targeted with five missiles,” the statement said.
The base, located around 70 kilometres north-east of Erbil, hosts US troops and coalition forces operating in northern Iraq.
According to the IRGC, the missiles were launched by units from its ground forces as part of ongoing military operations amid escalating regional tensions.
The attack marks the first operation announced by the IRGC directly targeting US forces in what it described as “southern Kurdistan” during the current wave of conflict.
Reports carried by regional broadcasters said the strike forms part of a wider campaign by Iran against US and Israeli military sites.
Lebanese television network Al Mayadeen reported that the missile attack followed the 33rd wave of what Iran has called “Operation True Promise 4”.
According to statements released by Iranian forces, the operation was carried out under the slogan: “At your service, O Khamenei.”

The IRGC said the operation involved the deployment of solid-fuel Khyber Shikan missiles carrying warheads weighing up to one tonne, according to statements reported by Al Mayadeen.
Iranian statements claimed the broader campaign targeted US and Israeli military bases and installations across the region.
However, details about the damage caused at Harir Air Base or any casualties have not yet been independently confirmed.
The developments come amid rising tensions in the Middle East involving Iran, the United States and their regional allies, with military activity and threats of retaliation continuing to escalate across the region.
