ISIS celebrates Bondi Beach terror attack with disgusting statement – ‘Heroes’ | World | News

The Islamic State has issued a statement branding the Bondi Beach terror attack a “source of pride.”

The group published an article on its Telegram channel celebrating the brutal attack on jews during the event in Sydney.

ISIS also referred to the alleged attackers as “heroes.”

Naveed Akram, the surviving suspect from the shooting, has been charged with 59 offences, including 15 counts of murder and one count of committing a terrorist act.

The 24-year-old was critically injured during the incident, while his father was killed by police.

The two men allegedly targeted Australia’s Jewish community at an event celebrating Hanukkah.

Following the attack, the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the shooting appears to have been inspired by extremist “Islamic State ideology.”

He added: “Antisemitism, of course, has been around for a very long period of time – that’s the point. Islamic State is an ideology that, tragically, over the last decade, particularly since 2015, has led to a radicalisation of some people to this extreme position, and it is a hateful action.”
