Jack Black’s rock band are currently touring Australia and caused controversy at a gig in Sydney on Sunday night.

The show coincided with the 64th birthday of the other half of Tenacious D, Kyle Gass, who was honoured with a cake and the Hollywood star singing Happy Birthday to him.

Asked to make a wish, Gass jokingly replied a day after the assassination attempt on the former Republican president: “Don’t miss Trump next time”.

A video of the moment featuring the two staunch Democratic supporters has since gone viral.

Elon Musk and Australian senator Ralph Babet commented that this was “evil” with the latter calling for Tenacious D’s immediate deportation.

Babet wrote on social media: “Tenacious D should be immediately removed from the country after wishing for the assassination of Donald Trump at their Sydney concert.

“I condemn in the strongest possible way the call to political violence by Tenacious D in Sydney on Sunday. To advocate and or wish for the assassination of a President is egregious, disgusting, filthy, evil, and not acceptable in any way, shape or form. This was not a joke, he was deadly serious when he wished for the death of the President.

“Anything less than deportation is an endorsement of the shooting and attempted assassination of Donald J Trump, the 45th and soon-to-be 47th President of the United States.”

Tenacious D have since announced that they will be postponing their show in Newcastle, Australia tonight.

A statement from the band read: “Frontier Touring regret to advise that Tenacious D’s concert tonight at Newcastle Entertainment Centre has been postponed.

“Ticket holders are asked to hold onto their tickets until further information is available.”
