Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘exhilarating’ film gets streaming date | Films | Entertainment
Jennifer Lawrence’s finest performance in a critically acclaimed 2025 film will soon be accessible for home viewing.
The Hunger Games and X-Men star, who previously claimed an Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook, featured in an independent drama this year that’s being touted as a serious Oscar contender.
Die My Love also showcases The Batman’s Robert Pattinson, with the acclaimed duo playing Grace and Jackson, a troubled couple whose bond faces severe strain when Grace starts to deteriorate following the birth of their first child.
The synopsis states: “A hopeful young and loving couple move from New York to an inherited house in the country. Grace tries to find her identity with a new baby in the isolated environment.
“Yet as she begins to unravel, it’s not in weakness but imagination, strength and a stunning untamed vivacity that she discovers herself anew.”, reports the Mirror.
Adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s novel and helmed by Lynne Ramsay, the production also features LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek.
Film enthusiasts who failed to catch what the New York Times called “exhilarating” in cinemas can look forward to its exclusive debut on streaming platform Mubi this Friday, 23rd January.
Director Ramsay commented: “At the heart of this story is the complexity of love and how it can change and transform over time.
“I aimed to keep it grounded, human, spontaneous and funny at times, capturing the moments that feel small but carry a lot of weight. This film is for anyone who’s ever been in a relationship – there’s heartbreak and beauty in vulnerability.”
Ramsay has previously earned critical acclaim for her powerful works You Were Never Really Here, Morvern Callar and We Need to Talk About Kevin.
The Independent awarded Die My Love a perfect five-star rating, hailing Lawrence’s turn as “career-best work”.
The New York Times echoed this sentiment, declaring: “Jennifer Lawrence has never been better… Vulnerable, terrible and totally unpredictable.”
A glowing five-star Letterboxd critique proclaimed: “Devastating and beautiful, and insane and original, Die My Love is a phenomenal, funny, yet emotional experience that has become one of my favorite films of the year.
“Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson, and Sissy Spacek are all fantastic, with Lawrence especially taking the cake, as by the end of the film, I was overcome by so many different thoughts and feelings, all to do with her character.
“Thank you, Lynne Ramsay, as I knew I would love this film, but it still somehow found a way to exceed all my expectations, as it is beautifully shot, paced, and overall made. Oh, and to top it all off, it has an insanely good soundtrack.”
Slant Magazine described the actress as “a force of nature” in her portrayal, whilst IndieWire crowned it Lawrence’s finest performance to date. She clinched the Donostia Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival and received nominations for a Gotham Award, Golden Globe and British Independent Film Award for her stellar performance.
Die My Love will be released on Friday, 23rd January on Mubi.
