The victim of the horrific Kersal Dale murder, where human remains were discovered, has been identified as 67-year-old Stuart Everett. The investigation was launched by Greater Manchester Police on April 4 when body parts were found at Kersal Dale.

Additional remains were subsequently discovered at Blackleach Reservoir and Colliery Wood over the weekend.

On the morning of April 29, more suspected human remains were found in an alleyway near the railway lines off Worsley Road in Winton. Today, police have named the victim at the heart of the investigation as local resident, Stuart Everett.

While formal identification is yet to be completed, DNA samples have been sent for urgent forensic analysis. Mr Everett’s family are currently being supported by specialist officers.

“In the last 48 hours they have heard the most devastating news that anyone could hear, and our thoughts remain with them as they begin to process this”, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The force further added: “Our fast-moving investigation has rapidly progressed over the last three days, and throughout the investigation, we have seen many resources deployed to Salford. The resources will continue to be deployed as we look to recover more evidence and build a fuller picture of the circumstances that led to our victim’s death.”

“The remains found at the other three locations in Salford are still to be tested, but we are confident they belong to the same victim.”

Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski, 68, and Marcin Majerkiewicz, 42, from Eccles have been charged with murder. Both men appeared at Tameside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

They spoke only to confirm their identities. They were held in custody and are due to appear at Manchester Crown Court today.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Crime Division commented: “My thoughts and the thoughts of officers and staff across Greater Manchester Police are with Stuart’s family at this traumatic time. Family Liaison Officers are supporting them through each update in our investigation.”

“My officers and detectives, alongside additional resources from across the force, worked tirelessly over the last three days to secure charges. We are grateful for the public’s continued help and support throughout this case.”

“We understand the shockwaves this has caused throughout the community and beyond, and we hope you are reassured by the pace of our investigation and also our large police presence in the areas as we continue to make enquiries. We have officers drawn from different teams and units in GMP who have helped us search and their efforts do not go unnoticed, and they have all played an important role to help us get to this stage in our investigation.”

“We said right at the start that our investigation will not stop until we have every stone unturned, and this continues to be the case. Our investigation has been a huge process so far, and we will continue to push forward in our enquiries to find answers for Stuart’s family.”
