James confirmed to ESPN that his thought process was on whether he wanted to “continue to play” in the NBA from next season. “I got to think about it,” James said when asked whether he would ‘walk away’ from the sport.

James still has two years left on his current contract with the Lakers, although the final year is a player option. And he’s proven in this year’s playoffs that he still has plenty to give when it comes down to it with some vintage performances throughout the postseason.

The 38-year-old has admitted previously that he would like to still be playing in the NBA when his oldest son, Bronny James, breaks into the league. The 18-year-old is projected to be included in the 2024 Draft class, but James’ recent comments indicate that may not be enough to keep him in the NBA.
