Lloyds alert over ‘errors’ as customer asks ‘is this legitimate?’ | Personal Finance | Finance


A Lloyds Bank customer was concerned if an online form they were being asked to fill in was genuinely from the bank as it had some basic errors.

The individual contacted the bank over X to raise the alarm, saying: “I’m just about to change my direct debit details for my mortgage, is this a legitimate page with Lloyds?

“I’m only asking as the phone number box only allows 10 digits maximum and there is a spelling mistake at the bottom.”

They shared a screengrab of a form which included a space for ‘contact number’ which had a 10-digit number inputted.

The form also had a button to click to confirm a statement, that seemingly had a grammatical error. The statement read: “I confirm that i named on the mortgage and give you permission to change the Direct Debit date as instructed in this form.”

Lloyds first asked the worried customer if they were logged in on the bank’s website, providing them with a link to a page where they could log in.

The customer said they were logged in and that they would persist and fill in the form despite the errors.

Lloyds said in response: “We do apologise for the errors, and will ensure this is fed back.”

Another customer recently contacted the bank in a state of panic as they had lost access to their funds while they were abroad.

They reached out over X as they had tried to get help using the online chat but had not had a response after several hours.

The bank assured the customer that as they had messaged online, the team would have access to their account details and would be able to help.

They also informed the saver that they could call the bank’s helpline 0345 300 0000 between 8am and 6pm for help with the problem.

As the saver had been waiting hours for a response, Lloyds encouraged them to type in one word to ensure they got a prompt reply.

They said: “Please send the word ‘agent’ to the messaging service, this should ensure you’re in a queue.”
