Luke Littler investment gets green light after darts star picks football club | Other | Sport
Warrington Town’s chairman, Toby Macormac, has expressed that the club is “always open” to darting sensation Luke Littler. The 18-year-old hinted at the possibility of investing in Warrington Town as a future venture, stating: “It would be an investment for myself in the coming years.”
He added: “I’ve got a local team. Warrington Town, who are in National League North… Maybe that could be an idea for the future.”
The young darts star, also known as ‘The Nuke’, has been seen supporting his local team this season, most recently during a National League North match against Hereford in October.
Following the game, Macormac warmly welcomed Littler’s interest in the club, telling the Warrington Guardian: “The door is always open.”
He praised Littler’s impact on the town, saying: “What Luke has done to put the town on the map in a way it’s never been before has been unbelievable and he’s an inspiration for so many.”
He continued: “We know he takes keen interest in our fortunes and we were delighted to see him attend a recent home game against Hereford – and even more delighted that he saw us win! ” Macormac concluded by reiterating the club’s openness to Littler’s involvement, stating: “He’s only early into his career and he’s got a lot to focus on with that, but our door is always open to Luke in whatever capacity in which he wishes to get on board with our journey as we look to realise the potential we feel our club has.”
This comes amidst a trend of celebrity ownership in football, with notable examples being Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at Wrexham. Warrington Town currently competes just one tier below Wrexham in the National League North.
Their next match is on Saturday afternoon, where they will be hosting the high-flying Scunthorpe United.
