Major Ryanair update promises ‘cheap as chips’ flights from Norwich | Travel News | Travel

is known for its purse-friendly flight offering, with select routes on offer for less than £20 – and now there are even more departure airports to choose from. Earlier this week, the Irish carrier launched its latest route offering from Norwich Airport, which passengers have hailed as being “cheap as chips”.

As of Tuesday, Ryanair kicked off flights to Alicante, Faro and Malta from the city airport which will run throughout the summer months.

Each week, 12 additional will not take off and land at the airport. Speaking to the BBC on launch day, Michelle Stewart said she paid £63 for a return ticket to Benidorm, describing it as being “cheap as chips”.

At the time of writing, flights from Norwich to Alicante start from £27.84 when booked directly with Ryanair. Flight from the city airport to Faro start from £23 and to Malta from a jaw-droopingly low £16.99.

Not only are the routes a positive boost for passengers but it’s thought they will also bring approximately 60 jobs to the airport.

Richard Pace, managing director of Norwich Airport, said: “This is fantastic news for passengers and the first time that Ryanair has flown from Norwich Airport.

“Alicante, Faro and Malta are hugely popular destinations and with twice-weekly flights, it means we can offer passengers even more great choice from their local airport. We’re delighted to be increasing connectivity for local communities.”

Though Ryanair does have low-cost ticket options, passengers should be aware of the cost associated with additional extras such as extra luggage, Priority boarding or extra legroom.

Passengers who arrive at the airport with too much luggage or a bag which exceeds Ryanair’s baggage restrictions could face extra last-minute fees at the check-in desk or gate.

If you are jetting off with Ryanair and want to take more than the small hand baggage allowance, it’s far better to book your Priority ticket or extra at home. Prices tend to be substantially higher at the airport. You can read our full guide to Ryanair’s luggage rules here.
