Man refuses to demolish 11ft-high mega garage despite complaints | UK | News
A homeowner has refused to demolish an 11ft-high mega garage despite complaints the “fortress” has ruined their lives. Daniel Toma, 41, denied neighbours have a problem with the metal building outside his home in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
The private ambulance driver didn’t obtain planning permission for the dark-green structure, which includes fencing, electric gates and is almost 30ft wide. Mr Toma said he won’t remove it, but furious neighbours reacted with horror to the construction.
Peter Loughlin, 74, told the Daily Mail: “It’s an absolute disgrace… He’s ruined my view.”
He said his life had been destroyed by the building and the view from his house “ruined”.
Bermet Amanaeva, 40, told the same publication that the “ugly” mega garage was “a nightmare”.
Hertsmere Borough Council reportedly refused retrospective planning permission for the building.

The local authority reportedly then took enforcement action, ordering Mr Toma to tear down the structure.
Mr Toma appealed against the council’s decision, which has since been upheld by the Planning Inspectorate.
It asked why such a garage was needed at a family home.
Hertsmere Borough Council has been approached for comment.
