Inter reportedly want £43million plus add-ons to part ways with the Cameroon international this summer, just one year after he joined on a free transfer from Ten Hag’s Ajax.

Given that United have a budget of around £125m excluding sales and have already held talks over Onana, that fee should prove no problem if, or when, the interest intensifies.

Ten Hag also wants a striker ahead of his second season at the helm after Wout Weghorst failed to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo during his loan stint in the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

But De Gea’s exit could trigger a swoop for his successor on priority, and Onana appears to be the goalkeeper in Ten Hag’s sights.
