Man Utd star in danger of Premier League suspension ahead of Everton clash | Football | Sport

Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu is on the brink of suspension ahead of Monday’s clash with Everton, as he stands just one booking away from a ban. The Red Devils are set to host David Moyes’ Toffees at Old Trafford, returning to domestic action after the international break. United will enter the match in high spirits, having maintained an unbeaten streak for five games, thanks to Matthijs de Ligt’s last-minute goal against Tottenham two weeks ago.

However, one player will need to tread carefully during the encounter with the Toffees. Dorgu has already accumulated four yellow cards in the Premier League this season. The 21-year-old defender received his first caution on the opening day against Arsenal, and has since been booked in matches against Brentford, Brighton, and Tottenham. This puts him in a precarious position, as one more yellow card would hit the five-card limit, resulting in an automatic one-match ban.

According to FA regulations, any player who receives five bookings within their team’s first 19 Premier League games will be handed a ban. Furthermore, players who rack up 10 yellow cards by matchday 32 will face a two-match suspension.

If Dorgu were to receive a booking in the upcoming Everton match, he would be ruled out of next weekend’s journey to Crystal Palace.

Two Premier League stars, Fulham’s Sasa Lukic and West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta, are currently suspended after receiving five bookings. A number of other players, including Dorgu, are on the brink of suspension.

Brentford’s Nathan Collins and Kevin Schade, as well as Everton’s James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam, have all been booked four times. Tyler Adams of Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest’s Nico Williams and Tottenham’s Cristian Romero are also treading a disciplinary tightrope.

Sunderland’s Noah Sadiki and Granit Xhaka have both accumulated four yellow cards and will be keen to avoid further disciplinary action.

Aside from these issues, United manager Ruben Amorim is hoping to welcome back several key players from injury for Monday evening’s match.

Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and Casemiro could all be fit for the clash with Everton, although Kobbie Mainoo and Benjamin Sesko are likely to remain sidelined. Updates on the squad’s status are expected from Amorim during his press conference on Friday afternoon.
