Martin Lewis tells mobile customers 5-digit ‘cheat code’ to cut bills before April | Personal Finance | Finance
Price hikes are set to hit mobile phone customers for every major network this April but money expert Martin Lewis has shared a five-digit ‘cheat code’ to slash your bills before they increase.
Back in front of the cameras for his latest episode of The Martin Lewis Money Show Live on Thursday, March 26, Martin explained how as many as 14 million mobile phone customers who are currently out of contract in the UK could slash their mobile bills before their prices increase this April.
But you don’t have to simply roll over and accept the increases, Martin explained, as he set out three steps you can take now to reduce your mobile bills before they increase – or you can just skip straight to step three with a ‘cheat code’.
First, Martin said you should text INFO to 85075 for free to check if you’re out of contract and free to switch.
Then, step two is to use a price comparison website to compare the cheapest deals to switch to. Usually, the best deals are with smaller firms which ‘piggyback’ off one of the four major networks using the same signal. For example, Lebara offers a SIM only deal with 10GB data from just £2 a month, and it uses Vodafone’s signal.
But you could still see success if you skip straight to step three and use the ‘cheat code’, Martin explained.
Martin told his live audience: “I have a cheat code here. I prefer you to do all three, but if you don’t want to, you’re out of contract, just text PAC to 65075.
“What they often say is, here’s your PAC code, we’re sorry to hear you’re leaving, how about if we charged you half what you’re currently paying, to stay with us, would you stay?
“You never know. It might just work. It does often.”
The Martin Lewis Money Show Live Thursday, March 26 episode is still available to watch via ITVX.
