Massive waterpark with 16 slides and beach opens in 26C winter spot | Europe | Travel
Holidaymakers heading to a popular winter sun destination, which boasts temperatures of 26C this week, can enjoy a huge, brand new waterpark if they stay in a certain hotel.
The Grand Hyatt Dubai Resort, a 5-star hotel with over 700 rooms, is already well-known among Dubai fans for its luxury accommodations. And as of November, guests who stay in the plush hotel will get access to a brand new waterpark with a whopping 16 slides to choose from.
Covering 20,000 square metres, the waterpark includes the first Triple Flow Rider in the region, a surfing simulator where you can learn to catch a wave. Adventurous types can enjoy two tower slides including a Boomerango, where you slide up high and then ping back. There are also some smaller slides and a splash area for younger guests.
If thrill rides aren’t your thing, the waterpark has a lazy river where you can float around and soak up the sunshine. There’s also a wave pool to splash around in, which has a sandy beach area, so you can relax or build a sandcastle with the kids. For a luxury experience, hire a cabana for the day. Some come with private plunge pools where you can cool off
You can also head indoors to enjoy a pool with a peaceful lagoon vibe and underwater speakers, and there’s also an upmarket spa where you can enjoy pampering treatments.
At the moment, it’s only guests of the hotel who can enjoy the waterpark. TUI offers a range of bed and breakfast, half board, and all inclusive package holidays to the hotel, all of which include unlimited access to the park. Guests can also enjoy 12 restaurants, from high-end dining to a poolside bar with snacks. The hotel even has its own Megaplex, with entertainment such as a kids play area and cinema.
The Grand Hyatt Dubai confirmed via an Instagram post that day passes would soon be available for non-guests who wanted to enjoy the waterpark. However, there’s no word yet on how much these will cost.
Dubai is no stranger to massive water parks. It’s already home to Aquaventure, the world’s largest waterpark by sheer number of rides and experiences. Aquaventure is also in a hotel; Atlantis – The Palm, a vast resort that sits at the tip of the Palm Jumeirah – a manmade archipelago that sits off the coast of Dubai.
Guests of Atlantis get free access to Aquaventure, but you can also buy day passes if you’re visiting the city and want to experience this extraordinary park. Its rides include the aptly named Leap of Faith, an almost vertical slide where riders drop 60 feet through a tunnel that passes through a shark-filled lagoon.
It also has the world’s tallest waterslide: Odyssey of Terror, where rafts of up to four people slide down a sheer drop. You can also discover marine life at the park’s aquarium, and book one of a kind experience from swimming with dolphins to feeding sea lions, for an unforgettable day out.
