Meghan Markle: YouTuber at heart of podcast name row speaks out | Royal | News
Meghan Markle has been defended by a YouTuber who has the same name as the duchess’ upcoming podcast. Since The Duchess of Sussex, 43, confirmed she will be launching her new podcast, critics have been quick to slam Meghan, especially as the name of her upcoming podcast – Confessions of a Female Founder – is already being used by YouTuber Kady Méite.
However, it seems this YouTuber is not fazed by the fact the duchess’ podcast will have the same name as her YouTube series and has even stepped out in defence of the duchess. She told Yahoo Lifestyle on Thursday that she knows Meghan choosing the same name for her own podcast would have been a coincidence. She also said she wants the public to stop criticising the mum-of-two.
As reported by New York Post, she told Yahoo Lifestyle: “I completely understand why people are drawing connections, and I truly appreciate the support and understand their intention but I also understand coincidences as well.
“It is highly unlikely Meghan even came across my channel, but I am flattered by the thought.
“What does concern me is how quickly this is turning into another reason to drag a woman down. That’s not something I want to contribute to.
“I know firsthand what it feels like to have my work actually copied…this isn’t that.”
The first episode of Meghan’s podcast is set to be released on April 8.
The duchess wrote on her Instagram last week: “I’ve been having candid conversations with amazing women who have turned dreams into realities, and scaled small ideas into massively successful businesses.
They’re opening up, sharing their tips, tricks (and tumbles), and letting me pick their brains as I build out my own business, As ever.
“It has been absolutely eye-opening, inspiring…and fun! (Because what’s the point if we can’t have some fun on this wild adventure?)”
