Met Office issues 12-hour snow warning with almost all UK covered | Weather | News
The whole of Britain looks set to be covered in snow as the Met Office issues a new yellow warning.
New maps from the Met Office show almost the whole of the UK has been issued with a yellow weather warning for snow and snow and ice.
A yellow alert starts at midnight on Sunday and lasts until 12pm on Monday.
It has been issued for nearly all of Scotland, including the borders, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Aberdeen looks to be partly included, with Westhill and Dyce in the warning zone and the coast not being included.
The zone goes into the north of the country, but doesn’t quite reach Neither Ullapool nor Dornoch.
Places in the west, such as Fort William, Tobermory and Portree are also not included.
The Met Office has warned the public that there is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
In addition, there is a slight chance that some rural communities could become “cut off”, and there could be travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.
The yellow warning for snow and ice that includes most of England will be active between 12pm on Saturday to 11.59pm on Sunday.
The Met Office has warned that there is a small chance of power cuts and mobile phone coverage being affected.
There is also a slight chance that some rural communities could become “cut off”, as well as a small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
Further, experts warn that there is a chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.
The yellow warning begins in the south, including places like Taunton and Salisbury, but missing Portsmouth and the area between Exeter and Penzance.
Brighton is also excluded, but London and a large section of Kent is within the zone. The south and east coast of the county is excluded.
