Missing woman’s severed head found among her limbs in wildlife refuge | World | News

A missing woman’s severed head has been found in a wildlife refuge six months after her torso was discovered in a rubbish bag.

Salisha Ali’s pensioner husband, Rupchand Simboo, had alerted authorities to the 35-year-old’s disappearance after she was last seen alive on July 13, 2025. However, Simboo has now been arrested and charged in connection with her murder, nearly eight months later. Sanitation workers made the first horrifying discovery of her remains in September, when they found a beheaded human torso in a rubbish bag. It was confirmed the remains belonged to Ms Ali, and the missing person’s case was ruled a homicide.

Then, in another harrowing discovery last week, human remains, including a head, legs and an arm, were discovered in the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in the state of New York on March 5. Investigators said they also belonged to Ms Ali.

Simboo, who was 41 years his wife’s senior and met Ms Ali in 2023, was arrested and charged in connection with her murder on March 11, at approximately 10.25am local time, confirmed the New York Police Department to PEOPLE.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said the head had several unique and identifiable tattoos which were visible and not decomposed.

After consulting with a medical examiner, he explained they were working on the understanding that Ali was killed using straight edge instruments, such as a knife, which “was used to cut through the soft tissue, and some sort of saw was used to cut through the bone”.

Queens DA Melinda Katz said: “As alleged, the defendant went to extraordinary lengths to evade responsibility for the brutal killing of his wife, discarding her remains in remote locations, and concealing critical evidence in an apparent effort to cover up this horrific crime,” reports CBS News.

The pair had met in 2023 when Ms Ali was living in Trinidad. By 2024, the couple were married and she had moved into his home.
