Mo Salah already keen on £200m transfer as one exit route rejected | Football | Sport

Mohamed Salah has reportedly already reached a firm decision regarding where his next career move will not be following his Liverpool exit announcement. The Egypt international confirmed his departure at the end of the season on Tuesday, and The Sun has claimed that he has no interest in emulating Lionel Messi with a switch to the MLS.

Their report has suggested, however, that the 33-year-old is tempted by a £200million-plus offer that would see him become the Saudi Pro League’s new posterboy. Al Ittihad are regarded as the most likely destination, having attempted to secure Salah in a blockbuster move just under three years ago, with Liverpool rejecting a £150million offer.

Salah staying in Europe remains another option if he is receptive to that, according to The Sun, with La Liga and Serie A sides anticipated to express interest. Prior to his Liverpool move, Salah enjoyed one highly successful campaign in Italy with AS Roma.

While considerable discussion has centred on Salah’s future destination, there have also been numerous opinions offered regarding who will succeed him at Anfield. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has recently made his views abundantly clear on the winger he wishes to see arrive.

He told TNT Sports: “If you are Liverpool, you have got to go ready. Tried and tested. For me that would be [Michael] Olise. Somebody of that calibre.

“If you don’t ask, you don’t get. And I wouldn’t want to see him leave Bayern because that front three is amazing. But if you are talking (about) Olise on that right-hand side for Liverpool, that is box office.”

The former Crystal Palace star is amongst several high-profile options that have been mentioned over the past 24 hours, with Manchester United-linked Yan Diomande as another possibility. Desire Doue is a further name that meets the criteria outlined by Gerrard, with Paris Saint-Germain teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia another dynamic attacking prospect.

Arsenal have subsequently emerged as contenders for his signature this summer as they search for a marquee left-sided forward. The Georgian is capable of operating in every position across the front three, however.
