Morrisons introduces ‘exciting’ new aisle in 20 UK supermarkets | UK | News
Morrisons has rolled out an “exciting” new aisle, which will be introduced in over 20 supermarkets across the UK this year. The first of its kind has already been opened at the Morrisons store in Speke, Liverpool.
The supermarket is collaborating with Wilko on a new DIY aisle as its rivalry with Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Aldi and Lidl continues. It is reported that over 20 stores in the UK will introduce the DIY aisle by the end of 2026. The aisle offers a selection of paint, decorating tools, household essentials and car care products.
A Morrisons spokesperson said: “We are pleased to have launched our new Wilko’s concession in our Speke store, marking the start of an exciting new partnership. We are looking forward to rolling this out to further stores later in the year.”
As well as DIY tools, the new aisle features a broad selection of colours and finishes. These include Tough & Washable emulsions, One-Coat Gloss and the Statement Walls products.
The new aisle comes as Morrisons continues to fill the space left by the closure of 52 cafes, 13 florists, 35 meat counters, 35 fish counters and four pharmacies last March. Rami Baitieh, the supermarket CEO, said he wants shoppers to have “more reasons” to visit Morrisons by turning stores into “one-stop shops”.
In November, the supermarket opened new sushi and Korean food counters in partnership with KellyDeli. It has also opened pure water stations with Spotless Water in some of its car parks.
More recently, Morrisons has launched its brand-new Hot Cross Bun Loaf. The supersized hot cross bun is perfect for sharing this Easter.
Jack Nicholls, Market Street Development and Operations Manager at Morrisons, said: “The Hot Cross Bun is an Easter staple and a crowd pleaser for our customers.
“To super-size the traditional bake, we are introducing our Hot Cross Bun Loaf. A loaf that gives the classic bun a run for its money – bigger, juicier, and packed with even more flavour. Perfect for passing around, stealing sneaky slices and sharing with the whole family around the table.”
