Loud explosions were reported overnight on Yasenevaya Street in Moscow, the same location where Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was killed in a car bomb just two days earlier. An unknown assailant threw an improvised explosive device into a traffic police vehicle parked near a local police station, triggering the blast at about 1.30am.

Two traffic police officers were seriously injured in the attack, with reports from multiple sources suggesting that both later died from their wounds. Eyewitnesses described hearing at least two bangs, seeing fleeing suspects, and observing severe leg injuries on one victim lying near the damaged car.

The area was swiftly cordoned off, with emergency services, explosives experts, and investigators rushing to the scene amid rising fears of targeted assaults on Russian authorities.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation, although no motive or responsibility has been officially attributed to the incidents as they unfold.
