M&S shoppers love £59 cabin case is £101 cheaper than Antler | Travel News | Travel

Are you jetting off this summer and in need of some sturdy luggage that you can take as hand luggage or check into the hold? Marks and Spencer has launched a collection of luggage aptly named the Amalfi collection (of course, taking its name from the chic Italian holiday destination. There’s a cabin case, medium and large suitcases, along with an additional vanity case.

The cabin case costs £59 and is probably the most useful of the range if you’re a short-haul traveller or go on frequent staycations. You can also buy the medium suitcase for £69, the large one for £79, and an additional vanity case for £29. It comes in four pared-back colours: pebble grey, charcoal, cornflower blue, and sage green, which is reminiscent of some higher-end brands. For example, luxury luggage brand Antler offers its Single Stripe luggage range in a selection of similar colours ( though the cheapest bag in the range will set you back £160). So the M&S cabin bag is £101 compared with its Antler competitor.

The M&S case measures 55 x 35 x 21.5cm, meaning it fits both British Airways and Jet2’s hand luggage requirements. British Airways allows cabin bags measuring up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm, while Jet2 has a similarly forgiving cabin bag allowance, with passengers permitted carry-ons up to 56cm x 45cm x 25cm.

The design claims to feature a scratch-resistant exterior and a smart raised pattern. Inside, handy packing straps and a zip-around divider keep everything neat and in place for organising your clothes and essentials.

It has four smooth double wheels, so it’s easy to pull around compared to two-wheeled cases. This is especially useful on uneven or cobbled surfaces on a city break. The handle is retractable, there are side grab handles, and there is a PU grip top for easy manoeuvring and lifting onto trolleys or conveyors.

The reinforced anti-burst zip can be padlocked, and the case also comes with a 10-year guarantee for peace of mind.

M&S shoppers have already reviewed the cabin case, with one saying: “Very well made and excellent value. Would buy again.”

However, one shopper was less complimentary of the case, writing: “I’ve not used it yet, so cannot comment on its robustness. The quality is as expected for the money, not the best but a lot cheaper than other brands.”

Another added: “Best hand luggage. The lightest luggage I’ve ever known.”

While a third commented: “One of my best-ever buys from Marks and Spencer. Very stylish suitcase. Just the right size for cabin or a few days away. Very easy to use and a great colour. Recommended 100%.”
