Nationwide says ‘don’t miss out’ as most members get £50 each | Personal Finance | Finance
Nationwide is urging people not to “miss out” as they could be owed £50 in free cash.
The world’s largest building society frequently issues payments to members, and earlier this year Nationwide bosses confirmed millions of people would get a “big thank you” payment worth £50.
In order to be eligible you need to have been a Nationwide member on 30 September, 2024, and still been a member when payments were made.
In the 12 months to the end of September 2024, members must also have either owed at least £100 on one or more Nationwide mortgages; had at least £100 in total in one or more Nationwide current or savings accounts; or had at least one qualifying transaction in a Nationwide current or savings account.
Nationwide said all payments have been made – however it added: “If you think you’re eligible and haven’t heard from us, there are ways you can check.” Most payments were made directly into people’s accounts, though some were made by cheque.
And Nationwide is now warning people: “Cheques must be paid in by 1 January 2026 to make sure you don’t miss out on the payment.”
Information found on the building society’s website further adds: “If you think you were eligible, and didn’t receive an email or letter from us, it may be because your contact details were incorrect.
“You can check your contact details in the internet bank and banking app. It may also be because our records show you no longer live in the UK, so we have sent you a cheque.
“If this is the case, you will need to contact us by January 1 2026 to confirm your details. You will need to log in to the internet bank or banking app to chat with us or visit one of our branches. We may need you to confirm your identity.”
