Piers Morgan and Prince Harry feud reignites after New York speech | Royal | News

Prince Harry came under fresh criticism from Piers Morgan on the back of a speech he made in New York this week about children’s online safety.

At the Clinton Global Initiative 2024 summit, Prince Harry called for tech companies to be held accountable for children’s protection online.

He said: “While we embolden both youth and parents, we must also hold digital platforms accountable. Surely none of us want to live in a world where there is no consequence or accountability.”

Harry was speaking on behalf of Archewell Foundation Parent’s Network, which was launched with parents whose children had devastatingly ended their own lives due to the harmful effects of social media.

He said: “Our platform provides opportunity for parents to turn their pain into purpose, ultimately changing the very system that stole their child.

“These platforms are designed to create addiction. Young people are kept there by mindless, endless, numbing scrolling, being force-fed content that no child should ever be exposed to.”

The foundation was launched to help support and inform parents as their children navigate the online world.

However, Morgan seemed to use the opportunity to take a swipe at the Prince’s tell-all media confessionals in his response to a video of Harry’s speech, shared on X by The Associated Press.

Morgan said: “Does he have any advice for how the royal family can be protected from the harmful effects of people abusing them in books, Netflix docs, podcasts and TV interviews with Oprah?”

His post has since gained 5.5k likes, compared to just 1.4k on the original video.

Morgan’s views on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been long established, notably congratulating them for “trashing their families on TV” when their Netflix series was nominated for a Hollywood Critics Association TV Award.
