From here, visitors are able to stroll right out onto Front Street, where there are pubs and bars such as The Head of Steam and Barca to visit.

This street is also home to chain and independent shops, ranging from food and drink to a number of gift shops as well.

Heading down towards the seafront, it its impossible to miss the ruins of Tynemouth Castle, located at the mouth of the river.

The gatehouse and parts of the wall are still intact today, creating a dramatic atmosphere when framed against the backdrop of the sea.

If looking for a great beach, why not head to King Edward’s Bay, hailed by many on TripAdvisor as one of the best beaches in the UK.

Alternatively, head down to the much larger Long Sands beach, perfect for swimming or ambling along the mile-long sands. The beach is also home to Longhand’s Surf School, which offers lessons for all ages and abilities.
