Prince Harry received ‘cold-blooded’ present from another royal ‘spare’ | Royal | News

Celebrating his 39th birthday at the Invictus Games, today marks a special occasion for the Duke of Sussex as he spends the day with his wife, Meghan Markle in Düsseldorf.

Prince Harry notably kicked off the occasion at a German brewery in Düsseldorf with a few of his aides in the city, taking a little time out of his busy schedule.

It is not yet known what gifts Harry will receive on his special day, but there is speculation Meghan Markle will gift her husband with a few surprises.

One memorable gift, the Prince received at Christmas was marked in his memoir, Spare, released on January 10 this year, which he branded “cold-blooded.”

On one Christmas Eve at Sandringham Estate when the Royal family was getting ready to open their gifts, the late Queen’s sister, “Aunt Margo” presented his nephew with an unusual Christmas present.

Prince Harry revealed the present was a tiny biro with a rubber fish wrapped around it.

He recalls: “Standing before my pile, I chose to open the smallest present first. The tag said: ‘From Aunt Margo’. I looked over, called out: ‘Thank you, Aunt Margo!'”

Harry adds: “It wasn’t just any biro, she pointed out. It had a tiny rubber fish wrapped around it. I said: ‘Oh. A fish biro! OK.’ I told myself: That is cold-blooded.”

In Harry’s memoir, he explains how he thought he and Princess Margaret should have been friends as they were “two spares” and had a lot in common.

The Mirror reports how the Duke of Sussex related to the “intense competition” Princess Margaret would have faced with Queen Elizabeth II, similar to himself and Prince William as siblings.

He also describes how they were “both rebels” and “both labelled as sirens”.

Harry’s celebrations this year, are likely to be extremely different to previous years, as he celebrates in the German city.

In his outing to mark his 39th birthday, the head waiter also revealed the party seemed to be having fun, stating Harry had “downed six beers”.

The party also celebrated by trying different delicacies and presented the Duke with a special white chocolate cake.
