Another source told how they only saw Prince Harry and Prince William at the end of the service, claiming: “I didn’t know they were there. They arrived very discreetly.”
The royal brothers are believed to have barely spoken over the past few years. Their relationship is thought to have become icy following the arrival into the royal fold of Meghan Markle, and to have broken down in light of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interviews and claims after their exit from the Firm in early 2020.
The reunion to honour their uncle seemingly didn’t bridge the gap between Prince Harry and Prince William, with a local claiming they were not seen speaking to each other and “kept their distance” during the service.
Following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to step down as working members of the Royal Family, the pair only travelled to the UK a handful of times due to security concerns harboured by the pair.
Meghan and Harry have been living in California with their children Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana since March 2020.
Lord Fellowes died aged 82 on July 29. He was a key figure in the Royal Family, not just for being related to the royal brothers through his marriage to Lady Jane Spencer but also because he worked as a press secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth II for 13 years. He had joined the Royal Household in 1977.
