Prince William looks excited as he joins Aston Villa fans at key clash | Royal | News
The Prince of Wales appeared excited tonight as he took to the stands to cheer on Aston Villa during a Champions League match against Club Brugge in Birmingham. Villa supporter Prince William was snapped concentrating on the match with his beloved team on Wednesday evening, just one day after visiting players at their training ground at Bodymoor Heath.
The heir to the throne was spotted among the crowd watching as the club tried to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. William, patron of the Football Association, is a passionate Villa supporter and, in January, joined fellow fans for a pint in a Birmingham Wetherspoons before a midweek match. Wearing a khaki jacket and an Aston Villa scarf, the royal seemed focused as the match went on.
It comes as William met with the team on Tuesday while in the West Midlands carrying out an official engagement at a referee training course in Willenhall.
Images on Kensington Palace’s social media showed William chatting with Morgan Rogers, giving Matty Cash a hug and watching the squad from the side lines with Villa’s president of football operations, Monchi, and Damian Vidagany, director of football operations.
The post read: “Great to pop in to see avfcofficial yesterday ahead of tonight’s Champions League game! Up the Villa!”
Earlier this year, the prince visited Birmingham again for an engagement before he surprised Aston Villa fans at a Wetherspoons pub for a quick chat and a pint.
On January 15, William headed to Birmingham as he was named patron of the College of Paramedics.
While there, William enjoyed a pint with fellow Aston Villa fans when the footie fanatics met up before a mid-week match.
The heir to the throne asked his club to arrange the gathering with some die-hard supporters in the city centre just hours before Aston Villa took to the pitch against Everton.
