PS Plus October 2024 FREE PS4 and PS5 games – Last of Us 2, Dark Pictures and Hades | Gaming | Entertainment

The next wave of PS Plus games are about to be revealed by Sony. After an underwhelming selection of PlayStation Plus Extra games for September, subscribers will be hoping the Essentials line-up shifts things up a gear in October. If Sony sticks to the traditional monthly reveal schedule, then the next batch of free PS4 and PS5 games will be unveiled at 4.30pm BST UK time on September 25. However, with rumours that Sony is planning to hold a State of Play presentation on September 24, there’s a good chance the company will announce the new PS Plus Essentials during the online event. If Sony does announce the PS Plus games during the rumoured State of Play, then fans can expect at least one blockbuster release to be included in the line-up.

With this in mind, and with Sony typically including at least one horror game during the month of October, I’m predicting The Last of Us 2 will join the Essentials line-up on October 1.

The Last of Us Part 2 also features in the monthly predictions thread over on Reddit, which would certainly make up for some of the lacklustre releases so far this year.

Other games featured in the monthly predictions thread include roguelike action game Hades, not to mention horror game Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me.

Resident Evil Village also gets a couple of mentions, alongside zombie games Dead Island 2 and Dying Light 2.

Another interesting and rather timely choice is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which is a third-person asymmetrical horror game.

Despite the next game in the series launching at the end of October, there are a surprising number of picks for Call of Duty games like Vanguard and Modern Warfare.

While Call of Duty regularly appears on PS Plus, I’d be surprised if we saw an older COD join the service just weeks before the launch of Black Ops 6.

Similar to last month, there are lots of picks for action role-playing game Atomic Heart.

The game left Xbox Game Pass at the end of August, which has led to speculation that it will join PlayStation Plus at some point in the near future.

Other games featured in the predictions list include Sonic Frontiers, although with Sonic x Shadow Generations about to launch, I think this falls into the same category as Call of Duty.

The usual suspects of Viewfinder, WWE 2K24, Forspoken, and Suicide Squad also make the list, with one user suggesting that the latter is a “slam dunk” to join PS Plus.

It would certainly help publisher Warner Bros. drum up some interest in the game, which has so far been a massive flop.

Daily Express will keep this article updated with any leaks and updates, as well as the official line-up when it’s announced next week.
